THE ELECTION FOR THE 2010 STEERING COMMITTEE HAS BEGUN!

The annual election for co-chairs of the Steering Committee for terms 2010-2009 is officially open. We are delighted in our highly-qualified candidates. The level of expertise and dedication they offer promises to strengthen the initiatives of the Women's Classical Caucus.

The four candidates are (in alphabetical order as is our custom) Amy Cohen, Yuri Hong, Deborah Lyons, and Georgia Tsouvala. CLICK on each respective name and you will be able to read a cv/candidate statements (in .pdf format).

While the election will take place electronically, a paper ballot will be published in the Fall issue of Cloelia for those who prefer voting by ballot. After reading the entries, send your two votes, via e-mail to Hallie Marshall (halliem@interchange.ubc.ca). Be sure to put “WCC vote” in the header of your message. You may vote by submitting an e-mail directly from your browser, by clicking on the e-mail address of the Elections Officer.

The deadline for e-mail votes is NOVEMBER 14, 2009.

Unfortunately, e-mail votes cannot be anonymous. If you are concerned with anonymity, however, your privacy can be honored by faxing your vote. Please fax your vote to Hallie Marshall at 604.822.9431 (FAX).

GUIDELINES

GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATIONS: As of this printing, nominations are CLOSED for the election in 2009 for terms beginning 2010. The general process for Nomination is as follows. Please send the names of your nominees to the Elections Officer, Hallie Marshall (halliem@interchange.ubc.ca). Self-nomination is allowed. The Elections Officer will contact nominees for permission to place their candidacy on the ticket. The Elections Officer will require a short curriculum vitae and an election statement from each nominee. NB: To nominees and self-nominees, please acquaint yourself with the duties of the Steering Committee; to read them online, CLICK HERE. In general, the nominating period will be closed during the summer of any given academic year, and call for and closing of nominations will be broadcast by the Elections Officer. This will allow time for all candidates to respond in a timely manner. In this way, candidate profiles and election statements can be posted on the WCC website before elections open.

GUIDELINES FOR VOTING: The voting will extend to mid-October of any given academic year, with specific dates for the opening and closing of elections announced by the Elections Officer and on the website. This will allow time for the successful candidates to arrange for transportation to attend the APA for the January meeting when their terms begin.

YOU MUST BE A PAID MEMBER TO VOTE. Please attend to this. The Elections Officer will check your vote against the membership record, so please make certain that it is up to date. If you are uncertain about your membership status, please contact Antony Augoustakis (Antonios_Augoustakis@baylor.edu).

Sincerely yours,

Hallie Marshall , Elections Officer
